Violent crime
Sir,—lt is unlikely that any discerning reader will be taken in by the belated bleatings of Mr Banks, National member of
Parliament for Whangarei, who says the proposed toughening of the penalties for violent offending is overdue. One can only wonder why the National Party did so little about this problem during their long term in office. Full marks to the present Government for positive moves to control and contain violent offenders and thus make our society a safer place to live in. — Yours, etc., JUNE DALZIEL. Amberley, November 18, 1986.
