Inspector for inquiry

By Wellington reporter New Zealand’s Chief Inspector of Air Accidents, Mr Ron Chippindale, will participate in an International Civil Aviation Organisation inquiry into the crash that killed President Samora Machel of Mozambique. The Prime Minister, Mr Lange, said Mr Chippindale’s participation had been invited by the 1.C.A.0. and approved by

the Government. The investigation is being organised at the request of Mozambican and South African authorities and Mr Chippindale’s costs will not be borne by New Zealand. Mr Lange said the invitation represented a tribute to Mr Chippindale’s ability but that it also reflected a desire to have a spread of inspectors from a variety of nations.
