One court closed for hearing
PA Wellington One courtroom of the High Court at Wellington was closed to the public yesterday afternoon as a case was argued before Mr Justice McGechan. He said all that could be published was the name of the plaintiff, the heart transplant candidate Desmond Maxwell Tucker, the names of the defendants, News Media Ownership, Ltd (represented by Miss Sandra Moran) the Broadcasting Corporation of New Zealand (Mr Tom Goddard) and the Auckland Star, Ltd (Mr Derek Broadmore) and the following: “The proceedings relate to further consideration of interim injunctions obtained by Mr Tucker against the named defendants.”
