Aunt Daisy show plans
PA Wellington Maud Ruby Basham, better known as Aunt Daisy, will be the subject of a programme in a new television series on pioneer woman of New Zealand. Aunt Daisy, a popular radio broadcaster of the 19405, 19505, and early 19605, had held a whole generation of women to-
gether, said the programme’s producer, Pamela Jones. Because of that she is looking for women for whom Aunt Daisy was important to film their memories of Aunt Daisy’s show for the programme. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, founder of the Home of Compassion at Island Bay; Mabel How-
ard, New Zealand’s first woman Cabinet Minister; and Makereti Papakura, a Rotorua guide, Oxford graduate, and author, will also be included in the series. The last series about pioneer woman screened two years ago. The new series is not expected to screen before the end of 1988.
