Fendalton Road

Sir, —A. M. Simson (October 9) is obviously not acquainted with the existing Fendalton Road median strip. If he were, he would not refer to it as a central safety zone. He, too, might be tempted to use the words “an obstacle course” instead. Technically, he may be correct in objecting to four lanes being called a "motorway.” If he and his children lived in the vicinity and had to negotiate a crossing he might refer to it as a motorway, too. Regardless of whether a four-lane road is an expressway, highway, or motorway, little children who are struck down become just as dead or injured. — Yours, etc., M. McCRACKEN. October 11, 1986.
