New chip
The Californian firm, TRW, has announced a new microprocessor chip that will be about 30 times as powerful as processors at present on sale.
TRW’s VHIC (very high speed integrated circuit) will have 35 million transistors on its body area
The chip, to go into production next year, and to go on sale within the decade, will make possible personal computers with mainframe power and speed.
