Cheque for wheelchair athletes

The wheelchair athletes, Allan Parish, of Ashburton, Trish Hill, of Oamaru, and Graham Condon (right), of Christchurch, are presented with a cheque by Mr John O’Sullivan (left), manager of the Caledonian Hotel Cellars and Mr Greg Peters (centre), manager of the Oxford Hotel, to enable them to compete in the World Paraplegic marathon in Japan in November. The hotels came to the trio’s rescue last week after a fund-raising fun

run failed to bring in enough money for their airfares and expenses. The athletes also received money from members of the public to help them towards their $5OOO goal. They will leave for Japan on October 28.
