Theatrical gimmick
ROBIN CHARTERIS
in London
A London theatre has a gimmick to beat high ticket prices: patrons will pay only as much as they think the show is worth. The pay as-you-leave offer at the Boulevard Theatre in Soho applies only for the first week of its new production, “Dirty Dishes,” from October 15. After tha, the producers believe patrons will be
only too happy to pay £4.50 ($13.50) and £7.50
($26.25) a seat. Confidently predicting the market will be tapped as never before, they do not expect to get into hot water with patrons refusing to pay anything after seeing the show.
“Dirty Dishes” is billed as as hilarious, hard-hit-ting black comedy about goings-on in a London pizzeria. •
