The meeting, at Tasman’s head office :;in Auckland, lasted more than seven hours. Neither side said much about the talks, which they have decided will resume on Monday. The Federation of Labour’s president, Mr Jim Knox, said the meeting had involved a wideranging discussion, but he declined to elaborate. He
said the parties had agreed to meet again on . Monday. Tasman’s chief executive, Mr Garry Mace, said the company had not expected a solution yesterday. He said the meeting, at which all 12 unions had been represented, was a large forum. “That is a time-consum-ing but necessary process.” Mr Mace said no agreement had been reached on any of the outstanding points between the parties. “We are running the gamut of all the issues, but we are only half-way through that yet.”
