Transport plans for papal Mass
PA Wellington A papal Mass to be held at Athletic Park in Wellington on November 23 is expected to require 200 charter buses from out of town and four special trains to move the crowd. The Wellington City Council traffic committee heard that more than 60 buses would be used to shuttle people from the railway station and carparks to and from the Mass. There were expected to be 50,000 people at the morning papal Mass at Athletic Park, and 4000 people at a second Mass for the less able-bodied at the Wellington Show and Sports Centre, the committee was told.
