Opposition criticises publicity
PA Wellington An Opposition spokesman has called it "no less than a scandal” that another advertising agency had been called in to help publicise the October 1 tax and benefit changes. The National Party spokesman on social welfare, Mr Venn Young, said two-page newspaper advertisements had run for several weeks, and there had been several television slots. “Much of the publicity on the October tax and benefit changes is already clearly seen by the public as propaganda rather than information,” Mr Young said.
