Food irradiation
Sir,—l fully suspected that it would not take long for the people to burst into print over the feature on food irradiation. Anything that sounds remotely similar to the word “radiation” is enough to send some off the deep end. I assume they use electric radiation heaters, at least occasionally? There will forever be a flat-earth society. However, I imagine those populations with stomachs distended from starvation will welcome this breakthrough — they do not own refrigerators.—Yours, etc.,
LLOYD HABGOOD. August 30, 1986.
