$368,000 for gang jobs

The Labour Department will pay out $368,025 for gang contracts in horticulture, land development, and building work.

The contracts are held by four trusts which include Black Power and Highway 61 gang members, and street kids. The money will cover wages and overheads for about 50 people working on contracts of between three and six months.

The district superintendent of the Labour Department, Mr Bill Holland, said this was not permanent funding.
