Curtain wins indoor bowls champ title

Andrew Curtain won the champion of champions indoor bowls singles after a close contest with last year’s winner, Gary Lawson (St Pauls), at Kearneys Road at the week-end. The scores were level four times in the 12-end game. On the ninth end, Curtain held a three-point advantage over Lawson. However, Lawson drew level with an excellent three on the tenth end.

The position on the head altered with every bowl played on the eleventh end, Curtain drawing the shot with his

last bowl to have a onepoint advantage going into the last end. Curtain then held shot on the last end to win 119.

From an entry of 62 clubs 18 had qualified for post-section play.
