Super-girl-stars-effects

SUPERGIRL Starring Faye Dunaway, Helen Slater, Hart Bochner, Peter Cook, Mia Farrow, Marc McClure, Maureen Teefy, Brenda Vacdaro, Simon Ward, Peter O’Toole. Directed by Jeannot Szwarc. Thorn EMI. 11l minutes. PG. This Alexander Salkind presentation lines up a veritable galazy of superstars to give Supergirl (Helen Slater) all the support she needs, as she follows in the footsteps of her fearless and famous cousin, Superman, to do battle with the forces of evil. The clever special effects help this movie climb a couple of notches on my ratings ladder as

Supergirl pits her prowess against that of the powercrazed witch, Selena (Faye Dunaway), who is hell-bent on universal domination.

On a desperate mission to Planet Earth, Supergirl must retrieve a missing life-giving power source to save her home city from total destruction. When Selena ensnares her brave opponent in the dreaded Phantom Zone, it seems that Supergirl’s mission, and the Universe, are doomed... but the roguish Zoltar (Peter O’Toole) comes to the rescue and in the final spectacular showdown Selena is carried off in something remarkably like a white tornado.

It’s all good, clean fun and gets a big thumb-up from younger viewers.
