Air bags free victim

The fire service used bags filled with compressed air to lift a car to free an elderly woman pedestrian who was hit by the vehicle in Kilmore Street yesterday.

The woman was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with moderate to serious leg and head injuries. Her name and condition were not available last evening.

The woman was trapped under th'e car for about 20 minutes after the accident, which happened at 11.15 a.m.
