Five properties sold at Chch mortgagee auction
Half of the properties offered on the second and final day of a mortgagee sales auction of 32 Christchurch properties were sold yesterday, either during the auction or immediately afterwards.
Of 12 properties to be offered yesterday, two were withdrawn before the auction, three were sold at auction, two were sold immediately afterwards, and five were ' passed in and are now for sale on the open market. The properties sold fetched a combined total of $313,500. Only one-third of the 20 properties under the hammer on Monday were sold.
The auctioneer, Mr Robert Brown, of Robert
Brown Real Estate, said that the number of people attending yesterday’s auction had been well down on the previous day.
Between 12 and 90 people had been at the auction at various times on Monday while yesterday’s numbers varied between six and 12.
"It was not as strong in numbers today but the folk who attended were very sincere and genuine. Yesterday (Monday) there may have been some curiosity seekers but today there was only a hard core of bidders,” Mr Brown said.
The five properties on the open market by private treaty represented "jolly good buying,” said
Mr Brown. They are a two-storey house at '3 Skipton Street (asking price, $48,000), a three-bedroom bungalow at 123 Knowles Street ($71,000), a three-bed-room house at 6 Gilwell Street ($60,000),. a twobedroom bungalow at 27 Mackworth Street ($47,000), and an early three-bedroom bungalow at 1 Cumberland Street ($36,000). Of the six properties that were on the market after being passed in at Monday’s auction, two were sold yesterday. They were 3/72 Trafalgar Street (at $72,000), and 40 Pannell Avenue ($63,500). The total value of properties sold yesterday was $449,000.
