A British journalist, broadcaster and author, Mr Alistair Cooke, aged 77, in London signing copies of his books. Mr Cooke is known for his B.B.C. radio programme “Letter From America,” and for his award-winning television series, “America: A Personal History of the United States.” Mr Cooke attended Cambridge, Yale and Harvard Universities before working as a film critic for the B.B.C. in the 1930s. He also worked in the United States as a correspondent for “The Times” of London, and the “Guardian.” He has been the commentator on United States affairs for the B.B.C. since 1938. Now living in New York City and Long Island, his interests are golf, photography, music and travel.
