SFM assured
PA Wellington The acting chairman of Southland Frozen Meat, Ltd, Mr Jack McKenzie, yesterday moved to quell rumours that SFM’s main shareholder, Fletcher Challenge, Ltd, was to sell its stake to the Alliance Freezing Company, Ltd. Mr McKenzie said in a statement to the Stock Exchange that efforts
had been made to come to an arrangement with Alliance, but that agreement had not been achieved. He had therefore received assurances from FCL that it was determined to pursue the development of SFM. Mr McKenzie said he welcomed the commitment to SFM and promised shareholders the board would make every effort to achieve the best returns from the development of the meat processing industry.
