Council wants to raise another loan
The Riccarton Borough Council wants to raise another $20,000 loan to complete payments on the Riccarton Town Centre improvements.
The council finance committee was told last evening that it would have to apply to the Local Authorities Loans Board for permission to raise the $20,000, for the final payment on the $1.25 million
project. The committee also agreed to support an Automobile Association campaign opposing a selective tax on petrol, to be introduced with the goods and services tax.
The committee voted to make a submission to the Government, opposing the introduction of the selective tax.
