BIL buys motor shares

PA Wellington Brierley Investments, Ltd, has topped up its shareholdings in two Well-ington-based motorvehicle dealers.

BIL has purchased privately 142,765 ordinary shares in Manthel Holdings, Ltd, representing 6.2 per cent of the firms issued capital. The shares, bought at 350 c for a total cost of $499,677, increases BlL’s stake in Manthel to 18.7 per cent. BIL has also bought a further 58,132 shares in the Colonial Motor Company, Ltd, or 0.4 per cent of the issued capital, at 350 c. The total cost was $203,462. This takes BlL’s shareholding in Colonial Motors to 9.7 per cent.

Colonial Motors has previously rejected BlL’s take-over offer at 350 c.

Manthel Holdings reported on Monday, a 44 per cent drop in profit to $556,000 for the year ended March 31.
