Obituary Mr H.F. Litolff

Mr Henry Francis Litolff, a man who devoted much of his spare time to cycling - for almost 25 years, died in Christchurch recently. Although Mr Litolff will be remembered mainly for his contribution to cycling, he was a member of the Commonwealth Games promotion executive, the body which successfully lobbied for the Games to be held in Christchurch in 1974. Mr Litolff’s involvement in cycling went back to the early 1960 s when he was deeply interested in novice and junior cycling.

He was an able and willing worker for the track cycling committee of the Canterbury centre and its president for many years.

The Litolff Cup, for secondary schools’ time trial competition, was presented by Mr Litolff in 1969 and is competed for annually.

One of his ■ sons, Michael, was a New-Zea-land representative and national 'champion in several events, mainly in sprint races.

He is survived by his wife, two sons add a daughter.
