Bicycle lights campaign
Christchurch cyclists will be urged to light up their bicycles by a Christchurch Metropolitan Road Safety Council campaign. Two . recent surveys have shown that about half the city’s night-time cycles are not well lit But some are well equipped with bright headlights, bright tail-lights, reflectors, and reflective clothing.
Cr David Close, a spokesman for the council, said cyclists who went out without lights at night were taking their life in their hands.
The city’s cycle-traders are co-operating in the “Light Up Your Bike” campaign, by displaying posters, and attempting to sell cyclists good-quality lights -and reflectors.
