Sri Lanka
Sir,—ln reply to Mr John Benson’s comments (June 18), we wish to state that we have also written to the editor of the American magazine concerned, giving the reasons why a separate state for Tamils is not justified. We firmly stand by every statement in our article and, if anyone is interested, will be only too glad to provide further information and proof. We are not anti-Tamil at all and believe that peaceful co-existence is possible and is the only solution; all the races in the country should strive towards that goal. Our opposition is only to the terrorists, whose ultimate aim, as stated in the said magazine, is to work with the Marxists among the Sinhalese to foment an islandwide Communist revolution. — Yours, etc.,
W. Y. RAMBUKWELLE, P. A. SAMARAWEERA. June 19, 1986.
