Next generation
Sir,—lt seems that enough is enough. Life in New Zealand is rapidly deteriorating. Considering the way we treat children, it is no wonder. We fill their minds with filth and violence, and their stomachs with junk. It is unreasonable to expect something good to come out if we put nothing good in. We are bound to reap what we sow. It is not enough to fight for our own rights; we also need to make some provision for the future. To this end, we ought to treat children with more respect and give them more protection, in particular from television. A bit of discipline would do them the world of good. We may have to discipline ourselves first, though.—Yours, etc., WILMA BRINK. June 16, 1986.
