Canty Film Society

“Chan is Missing,” by the Chinese-American director, Wayne Wang, which has been described as “the sort of film that justifies film festivals,” will be screened by the Canterbury Film society this Sunday at 7.30 p.m., at the Museum Theaterette, Rolleston Avenue. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the society will show Chris Marker’s “Sans Soleil” (“Sunless”), which weaves an odd tapestry of newsreels and travelogues into a documentary covering a' vari-

ety of off-beat subjects, including “Carnival in Bissau,” “Death of a Giraffe,” “Guerrilla in Bissau” and downtown Tokyo. The supporting shorts are “Coleridge: The Fountain and the Cave,” a documentary about the life of Samuel Taylor Coleridge; and “Pictures out of My Life.” Tuesday’s screening will be held in Lecture Theatre Al at the University, Ham, at 7.30 p.m., and Wednesday’s at the Museum Theaterette.
