‘Plenty’ competition
To mark the imminent screening of Meryl Streep’s “Plenty” at the Regent, the cinema will give away double passes and copies of the book on which the film is based as prizes in a six-question competition. In “Plenty,” Streep plays Susan Traherne, an Englishwoman who enjoyed life to its fullest with the French Resistance during World War 11, and whose ideals prevent her from living a normal life in peacetime. The film also stars John Gielgud, Sam Neil, Sting and Charles Dance. The six questions, with

Which of the following leading men has Meryl Streep appeared with twice? (a) Sam Neil.
(b) Robert Redford. (c) Robert de Niro. 4. What was Sting’s last recorded album available in New Zealand? (a) “Synchronicity.” (b) “Dream of the Blue Turtles.” (c) ‘‘Outlandos d’Amour.” 5. Where was Sam Neil born? (a) Northern Ireland. (b) New Zealand. (c) Australia. 6. Charles Dance made his TV debut in which series? (a) “Reilly: Ace of Spies.” (b) “The Jewel in the Crown.” (c) “Brideshead Revisited.” A double-pass ticket and copy of the Future paperback, “Plenty,” by Andrew Osmond, will be given to the first six correct entries opened. Double passes will also be given to the next six correct entries. Answers should be addressed to: “Plenty” Competition, At the Cinema, C “The Press,” P.O. Box 1005, Christchurch. The prizewinners will be announced in this column next Thursday, and the prizes will be posted to them. The judges’ decisions will be final, and no corwill be entered into.
