Brabham anniversary
July 1 will mark the twentieth anniversary of the first Formula One Grand Prix victory of the Repco Brabham, a car designed and built by Sir Jack Brabham and powered by an Australiandesigned and built RepcoBrabham engine.
In the 1966 world racing drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships, the first year of the three litre formula, Brabham won both titles. It was the first occasion on which the titles were won by a driver in a car of his own manufacture. The following year the
New Zealand, Denny Hulme, a Repco Brabham team driver, wrested the title from his boss.
To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of that first win — the French Grand Prix, run that year at Rheims — a reunion of former Repco Brabham employees and other people involved in the project will be held in Australia on July 5.
Anyone interested should get in touch with Bob Sippo, P.O. Metung, Victoria 3904. His Victorian telephone number is 56-2225.
