Police bullet inquiry welcomed
PA Wellington The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ken Thompson, welcomes the Government’s inquiry into the police use of jacketed soft-nosed bullets. “I am confident that the independent review will vindicate our choice,” said Mr Thompson. The Minister of Police, Mrs Hercus, said a retired High Court judge, Sir Clinton Roper, would investigate the use of the bullets. The study will cover the use, suitability and type of jacketed soft-point bullets on issue to the police, and whether any policy should be reconsidered.
