Show day

By

LOUISE TAYLOR,

aged 10 “Oh boy!” I thought as I jumped out of bed, “It’s our school show day today, the day I’ve been waiting for!” For our show we had to enter lots of things like flower displays, miniature gardens, vegetables and vegetable models, baking, sewing, art and models. As I got up I looked out the window. It was a beautiful, clear blue day, the sun just defrosting everything. It was a per-

feet day for our show! As I quickly got dressed Mum shouted from down the hallway, “Hurry up.” As soon as I was in the kitchen I knew that the morning was going to be as frantic as I imagined it would be. So many things to do for the show! All morning everybody went crazy. We were busy as bees working in a beehive. Orders came shouting at me from every direction. Finally we were at school, leaving the house in a shambles. After we had got every-

thing set up for the show we had games. At lunch-time the judges had finished judging and we started the boring wait to see whether we had won any prizes for our exhibits. Our headmaster came at last to open the rooms, where the exhibits were on display. Finally when we did get into the display rooms what a surprise I got! I had been really successful and so had all my friends. All that rush and worry was worthwhile after all.
