The Hidden Treasure
By
STEVEN HARRIS,
aged 7 One day, long ago there lived a pirate called Black Jack and his band of men. Now Jack’s ancestor had been a pirate, too. One day Jasper, (who was Jack’s ancestor) had buried a chest of treasure, and left a map, as well. Black Jack had been looking for this treasure ever since. One day when Jack was out sailing in his ship, the man up in the crows-nest shouted:
, “Enemy ships over to starboard.” > “Get the cannons : ready,” was the answer. “Boom!!” A ship got l shot in the hull and began ; to sink. “Boom! Boom! ; Boom!” Explosions filled I the air. Luckily Jack’s , ship escaped them all. One day, after the i battle had ended, Jack’s i men wanted to be free i again, (because Black ; Jack had made them join him). So the pirates abandoned him on an uninha-
blted island with nothing except a box of hard tack and water. When Jack looked around the island he saw a flag. So Jack dug under it. Under it there was a chest. 'T’ve found the treasure!!” he said. Jack decided he’d light, a bonfire. The next day Jack was picked up by a trading ship and taken back to England. (Black Jack was my ancestor, but I made up this story about him.)
