Cavalier form to be sent soon

PA Wellington The form seeking a declaration of the Cavaliers’ financial arrangements on tour would be sent out “in a day or two,” said the New Zealand Rugby Football Union’s secretary, Mr Barry Usmar, yesterday. The form was being drafted by the union’s lawyers. Mr Usmar said it would then be vetted by the union’s chairman, Mr Russell Thomas, and copies would be sent to lawyers representing the players. The players will have until June 25 to respond. The Cavaliers will also be asked why they played rugby in South Africa without the union’s permission. They will have until July 10 to answer. The decision to seek information was made at the special meeting of the Rugby Union’s council on Monday when the Cavalier coach, Colin Meads, was severely reprimanded for his part in the tour.
