Beer promotion again under fire
PA Palmerston North Promotion of beer as part of the America’s Cup fund-raising campaign has again come under fire from the Manawatu Society on Alcohol and Drug Use. Figures given this week by Lion Breweries show $150,000 has been raised from five million cans of Steinlager sold in 11 weeks. Three cents on every can goes towards the challenge. The project manager, Mr Richard Jones, said the company was delighted with the enthusiastic support shown for the event. “New Zealanders have shown that they are fully supportive of the Kiwi effort to uplift the America’s Cup,” he said.
