Crossing the road
Sir,—Using pedestrian traffic lights to cross the road requires the speed of Cardigan Bay at full pace. To make matters worse, often discretion is left to the motorist as to whether to give way or not. Old folk and children especially must find peak traffic times a nightmare. Perhaps the traffic lawmakers might like to “shanks’s pony” around the city for a while. If they took to the road they would really learn road sense — at a survival level. — Yours, etc., L. GRIFFITHS. June 10, 1986.
