East and west
Sir,—Why your paper continues to publish the outpourings of a writer determined to fulfil his life’s purpose as a boil on the neck of Christianity defeats me. I would refer you to the splendid
television programme of the work being done by our Queen of “The Queen and the Commonwealth.” The Queen is a very sincere Christian and regularly worships in the private chapel in Windsor Great Park in England. Our Prime Minister, Mr Lange, heading his country’s antinuclear stand is also — whatever his occasional lapses — a believing and practising Christian. Some Christians support the American view, believing it to be an important element in there having been no full-scale war in the world for 40 years. As a Christian, I believe the time is overdue for the complete elimination of war and its weapons as a means of settling international disputes. — Yours, etc.,' ’ ,
J P. B. WYE. Blenheim, June 10, 1986.
