Police end S.I.S. investigation

PA Auckland A complaint by the Security Intelligence Service about material being taken from its Wellington offices will not result in any prosecution, the police say. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Stuart McEwen, said police inquiries had been completed without a “successful result.”

He said the S.I.S. had been advised accordingly. Police investigating the complaint interviewed an Auckland University lecturer, Dr Peter Wills, On March 9, the “New Zealand Times” said material believed to be from S.I.S. papers appeared in a written submission by Dr Wills to the Committee of Inquiry on defence policy.
