Alison Roe well down placings

New Zealand runner Alison Roe finished twenty-sixth in the Leggs mini-marathon raced over 10km in Central Park, New York, on Saturday. The race, part of Roe’s come-back to 1 competitive marathon running, took place in hot and humid conditions, with the temperature over 30 deg for the morning start, according to race organisers. The 10km race was won by Ingrid Kristiansen, of Norway, in 31min 455. Joan Benoit Samuelson, of the United States, was second in 33.03 with Marty Cooksey of the United States third in 33.04.

Roe, who is aiming to compete in the San Francisco marathon on July 20, completed the distance in 35.30.
