Apprentices suspended
The apprentices, Jason Spencer and Barry Jones, were suspended at the Otago Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday. Spencer was suspended until June 16, three effective riding days, for striking his mount. Friendly Caddon, on the head with the whip. An assistant stipendiary steward reported that the incident took place shortly after entering the home straight in The Brighton. Spencer was charged with improper use of the whip. Friendly Caddon had been left several lengths at the start
Barry Jones was suspended from riding today for allowing his mount, San Tralee, to shift in at the 200 m of the First Gladstone Maiden and crowd Golden Time.
San Tralee was to second and Golden Time promoted to first
