Karters seek N.Z. title
Six Christchurch drivers will compete in the New Zealand road and grand prix karting champion-
ships at Tauranga’s Baypark Raceway tomorrow. The road champion in each of the three classes, 100 cu. cm Yamaha, 125 cu.cm gearbox and 250 cu.cm superkarts, will be found after a series of four short races, and each
class has a 40km race after the road racing to determine the grand prix champions.
The Christchurch Kart club will be represented in all classes. Shane Drake, a relative newcomer to road racing, will contest the 100 cu.cm Yamaha class in the kart successfully driven by Murray Davies for the last
two years. Graham Stevens, Paul Crichton and Russell Nant will all contest -the 125 cu.cm i gearbox Classes, and JOhn Hamilton and Jim Rouse should be worthy representatives in the superkart class. Rouse won both the road race series and grand prix title off Hamilton at Teretonga last year. '
