M.E.D. extensions
Extensions to the M.E.D. building in Manchester Street are now about six months behind schedule. Work on the extensions was due to be completed by June, but industrial action by groups of workers on the site and unforeseen work that was needed mean it wi|l not
be finished until November. The M.E.D.’s chief engineer, Mr Hallett Mace, said provision for delays had been built into the contract. Staff would be in cramped conditions for longer, but services to consumers would not be affected.
