Bridge closings
State highway 6 at the Fox River bridge, 40km south of Westport, will be closed for 20 minutes each day this week until Thursday, while repairs are carried out on the bridge, says the Automobile Association (Canterbury). There is no fixed time for the closings. Ministry of Works staff are replacing the transoms on the bridge. The work is expected to be completed by Thursday, subject to weather, according to a Ministry spokesman.
