Muslim politician not for election
NZPA-Reuter Kota Kinabalu The Sabah Muslim Opposition leader and State assemblyman, Mustapha Harun, who tried to oust Sabah’s Christian Chief Minister last month, has dropped out of state elections on May 5 and 6. Malaysia’s Election Commission said after nominations closed on Saturday that 169 candidates would contest the 48-state assembly seats. Mr Mustapha’s name was not on the list and he was unavailable for comment. Last week Mr Mustapha, leader of the Malaybased United Sabah National Organisation party, lost a High Court case challenging the right of the Chief Minister, Joseph Pairin Kitingan, to govern Sabah.
