Another case of typhoid
PA Auckland Health Department officers investigating an outbreak of typhoid have discovered another person with the disease. They have not yet found the carrier responsible for spreading the disease to a total of 13 people in Auckland and Tokoroa.
The typhoid outbreak occurred after a party in Otara last month attended by about 300 people. It was passed on by somebody who was already a carrier through a chicken dish that all victims ate. The South Auckland Deputy Medical Officer of Health, Dr Mark MacDonald, said yesterday that the latest victim, a woman, had been admitted to Middlemore Hospital.
