Finally, peace
NZPA-Reuter London The Netherlands would finally make peace with a tiny group of English islands tomorrow, ending a 300-year-old state of war, an embassy spokesman said yesterday. The Dutch Ambassador in London would go to the Scilly Isles, off south-west England, to formally end hostilities that began in 1651 when the Dutch tried to reclaim merchant ships captured by the islanders, she said. England and its territories made peace with the Netherlands in 1654.
