Brazil falls to Hungary
Budapest NZPA-AFP Brazil’s tarn-
ished soccer reputation suffered further damage here today when it was beaten 3-0 by fellow World Cup qualifier, Hungary. The manager, Tele Santana made five changes after the midweek 2-0 defeat by West Germany, but the new line-up failed to create any clear cut changes. The absence of Falcoa and Socrates, who are both injured, was crucial. A capacity crowd of 75,000 were drawn by the prospect of a glittering occasion, but instead witnessed a one-sided game dominated throughout by
the hard-working Hungarians. Brazil was caught cold five minutes from the kick-off. when Esterhazv. the quicksilver Hungarian wing, pounced on a defensive error and put the midfielder, Detari through to score. The initiative stayed in the Hungarian camp and a couple of sporadic individual runs could not compensate for Brazil’s lack of team-work. The midfielder, Kovaks, put Hungary further ahead in the fifty-ninth minute and a brilliant individual effort by Esterhazy crowned a fine performance with Hungary's third goal in the seventy-third minute.
