Church union

Sir, —The article on possible near agreement on Anglican Orders (March 7) proves that plans begun before Vatican Two (under cover) are reaching a logical conclusion — unity of worship. In 1967, the Sacrament of Holy Orders was changed to remove the Catholic idea of a sacrificial priesthood. The Anglican belief of a memorial meal did not require a priesthood — there should be no problem. The Latin Tridentine Rite was changed in form, words and language to facilitate inter-com-munion. Already an American Catholic church has accepted Anglican ministers and the Book of Common Prayer, because these men do not want women ministers. That is no change of belief, just anti-women. Lady Jane Grey said in spite of pressure — she died for it — that it was bread before and it was bread after. Why should it matter, if that is so? They were two different religions once, now they are the same practically.— Yours, etc.,

V. H. ANDERSON. March 7, 1986.
