SIRE SERVICES SON OF BULLY The biggest stag owned by P. C. Fraser, Matamata. producing excellent velvet, 5 years, weight 260 kg, 4.6 kg velvet. Seven of Bully's sons sold at auction December 4, 1985. Average price $12,500, top price $40,000, 2-year-olds, the New Zealand Deer Report, January 30, 1986. t Ten years of breeding up has resulted in a 2-year-old red stag cutting 3.5 kg of velvet this year — and there are other heavyweights coming through at the Fraser family's Tower Lodge deer farm near Matamata. The velvet came from the son of Bully, star sire at Tower Lodge's recent sale, and was weighed and confirmed by an attending vet — who also issued a certificate giving the animal's age. Tower Lodge has a history of good velvet cuts, with the infamous Andy producing 6.2 kg and many of his progeny cutting 3kg as 2-year-olds.
