Two men blew up tavern toilet bowl
PA Tauranga Two men who blew up a tavern’s toilet bowl were each sentenced to four months periodic detention when they appeared in the District Court at Tauranga on Tuesday. Robert John Eynon, aged 28, a bushman, of Te Puke, and Grant John Wi, aged 23, unemployed, of Maketu, had earlier admitted wilfully damaging with: explosive a toilet bowl in the Papamoa
family tavern, and a letter box at Papamoa, on February 7.
Wi also admitted possessing a tuna bomb except for lawful purpose. Judge Wilson told the pair that while tuna bombs had been described as over-sized firecrackers, they could case considerable damage and fire.
He sentenced the men to four months periodic detention and ordered each to pay $67.91 restitution.
