New oil search
PA Wellington A major new oil and gas exploration programme in Taranaki has begun. Drilling of the Te Kiri-1 well, about 10km north of Opunake in South Taranaki, started on Thursday and the well was atja depth of 17m by 7 a.m.* yesterday, Petrocorp (Exploration), Ltd,
said in a statement to the Stock Exchange. The well is testing potential hydrocarbon reserve horizons in the Kapuni Group. The Te Kiri-1 well is the first in the oil and gas exploration programme, which may involve drilling at least six wells in prospecting licence area 38034 before July nfext year.
