A total of 103 boats from throughout New Zealand contested the Clyde Collins Com-mercials-Cee Bee Marine jet sprint on the Waimakariri River during the week-end. Unfortunately for Canterbury hopes it was Barnett who took line honours after Watson and Hallen grounded only metres from the finish. The family class was won by Paul Smith in a Hamilton 151 A. Less than a second behind was lan Bayliss, also driving an alloy 151. A crowd of about 3000 attended the two-day event. Times, Racing class: M. Barnett, 1:14.79; J. Hallen, 1:15.20; B.
